Rock 'N Roll Heaven, who and what we are.

The year is 1985, I'm pretty much a typical 15-year old high school male, and little did I know my life was going to be changed by a song. The song was We're Not Going To Take It, and if I have to tell you the band you're probably at the wrong site. It was a simple song, with a simple premise, we are not going to take abuse, either verbal or physical, from anyone, be they parents, teachers, or peers. I think this song had such an impact on me for a couple of reasons, the first one is I'm generally a quiet and shy person. The majority of the time I take things as they come and don't make to large of a spectacle of myself, Twisted Sister was just the complete opposite, and in listening to them I could release some of the energy and emotion inside of me. And the second one is just simply the message of the song, being a 15-year old high school kid I got abuse, not really from my parents, but I had rude and mean teachers, and if you never were teased by your peers then you were the one teasing. This started my journey into heavy metal, and music in general. I found that music gave me a way to express myself, and made me feel like I wasn't alone, whether it be being made fun of, finding a girl that made your palms sweat, or you just wanted to have fun. All these things and more are expressed in music, and I believe more so in rock 'n roll than any other. How many rebellious country songs can you think of? How about rap ballads?

So that's the start of my story, now we'll jump about 15 years later. We just got through the 90's, when metal became almost a bad word. We made it through Y2K, when everyone thought the world might be coming to an end. And guess what, heavy metal is making a comeback. It will come out and I say thank goodness, but it's a slow comeback, and that's what Rock 'N Roll Heaven is about, helping the metal scene because it helped me through so many years. We want to help educate people about what is available out there, and to let them know they are not alone. So let's all unite and show everyone that the stories of the demise of heavy metal were just that, stories.

One thing this site is not about is the slamming of any genre of metal music. We listen to everthing from 70's bands like Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Deep Purple, 80's bands like Twisted Sister, Motley Crue, Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Poison, to 90's bands like Tool, Dream Theater, Iced Earth, etc... We want to help unite the heavy metal scene. We'll be honest and if a band sucks we'll tell you our opinion, and we respect yours. Our forums we'll be open to anyone except those people who won't respect other people's opinions. If anyone wants to contribute say so, either in the forums or in an email, we are always open to suggestions.

To the bands, labels, and all those involved in the business side of the music scene, help us out and we'll help you. We want to become a stopping point for anyone who is interested in the heavy metal scene. If somebody wants to find out more about a band we want them to come here, hopefully we'll have news about the band, maybe even a review of the band's material, and at the least a link to either the band's site or their label. But again, we will be honest, that's the only way we can keep people coming back.

I hope this explains what we are about. Thank you and please tell your friends about us.
